GREAT LAKES SCIENCE CENTER, HOME OF THE NASA GLENN VISITOR CENTER,TO HOST CLEVELAND’S OFFICIAL YURI’S NIGHT SPACE PARTY IN APRIL

CLEVELAND (February 29, 2012) – You’ve never seen Great Lakes Science Center like this! On Saturday, April 7 from 8 pm to 1 am, the Science Center will be “like no party on Earth” as it hosts Cleveland’s official Yuri’s Night Space Party.

Yuri's Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of April 12, 1961, the day of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's first manned space flight, and April 12, 1981, the inaugural launch of NASA's Space Shuttle.

“As home of the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, the Science Center is thrilled to be the official host of Cleveland's Yuri's Night celebration, an event that honors the past, present and future of human space flight,” said Dante Centuori, director of creative productions at Great Lakes Science Center. “We’re excited to host a 21-and-over crowd and show them the best of what the Science Center has to offer, including explosive science demonstrations, liquid nitrogen cocktails and a space-themed costume contest.”

The event includes:
• Live music by Disco Inferno

• Beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres

• Midnight OMNIMAX movie, Hubble

• Jell-O shots* - a different flavor every hour

• Costume contest - wear your best space-themed attire

• Specialty cocktails*

• NASA Glenn Visitor Center displays

• Trivia contest - Are you smarter than an astronaut? Match wits with NASA astronaut, Gregory H. Johnson!

• See the 501st Legion dressed in cool Star Wars costumes

• Big Science Shows - witness large-scale spectacles of science

*There is an additional charge for Jell-O shots and specialty cocktails. Beer, wine and food are included in the $60 ticket price.

Tickets are $60 per person and are available to purchase online through Friday, April 6. On Saturday, April 7, tickets will also be available at the door for $60.
