Did you know that Great Lakes Science Center has fun programs and workshops specifically designed for Girl Scouts? Whether you’re coming on a group visit, spending the night at one of our cool sleepovers or enjoying one of our workshops, you’ll learn about science and have fun at the same time!
Science Center Sleepovers (Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes)
Girl Scout ONLY Nights
Ever wonder what it’s like to spend the night in a museum? Here’s your chance! Explore the Science Center after dark, interact with hundreds of exhibits, visit the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, watch a special OMNIMAX movie on our giant screen, participate in fun hands-on activities and science demonstrations, and then grab your sleeping bag and spend the night!
Sleepovers start at 6 pm and include tasty late-night snacks, breakfast the next morning and free general admission to the Science Center the next day. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. $39 per person.

Lost Egypt Sleepover for Girl Scouts
Friday, February 15
6 pm
Someone – or someTHING – has been disturbing the Science Center’s efforts to study a rare Egyptian artifact. Is it the dreaded Curse of Ahtchu? Or an ancient mummy on the loose? Your team of archeologists will have to crack a clandestine code and uncover the secrets to solve the case! Explore the Science Center in this wild and wacky adventure for adults and kids to do together. Analyze fingerprints, decipher hieroglyphics and perform DNA and fiber analysis to catch the culprit. Enjoy the OMNIMAX film, Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs. Fulfills requirements for Cadette “Special Agent” badge. Badge not included. $39 per person. Register at 216-621-2400. Robotics Sleepover for Girl Scouts
Friday, March 22
6 pm
A night of robotic themed fun! Using the latest in LEGO NXT technology, spend a portion of the evening designing, building, programming and challenging other robots in a series of mini-competitions that will test your speed, accuracy and ability. Spend the other portion of the evening engaged in a science show, exhibit exploration and much more! Afterwards, enjoy the OMNIMAX movie, Born to Be Wild, and explore the museum after dark. $39 per person. Register at 216-621-2400. Journey into Space Sleepover for Girl Scouts
Friday, April 19
6 pm
Learn about stars, meteors, comets, black holes and more! Build and launch a rocket, view a real moon rock, train to become an astronaut, sample “soil” from Mars and experience the STARLAB Planetarium. Learn about all things space in the first phase of our brand-new NASA Glenn Visitor Center galleries and be prepared to be blown away with the OMNIMAX movie, Hubble. $39 per person. Badge Workshops
Earn your Brownie Badge or Junior Badge at the Science Center! Our badge workshops are tailored to help Scouts complete all or most of the required activities for a badge and include general admission to Great Lakes Science Center. Girl Scout badges are also included with these workshops. All youth 18 and under must be accompanied by a Scout Leader or adult for these events.
Register for these events at 216-621-2400. One chaperone is free for every five paying Scouts. Admission for additional chaperones is $3 per person.
Home Scientist Badge Workshop
Saturday, February 16
10 am – noon
Complete the Home Scientist badge for BROWNIES! Learn to be a kitchen scientist, create static electricity, dive into density, create bubbles from dry ice and experiment with all things science! $12.
Product Designer Badge Workshop
Saturday, February 16
1 – 3 pm
Just for JUNIORS! Earn a badge using two skills that inventors and product designers have in common – a very active imagination and a lot of energy! Invent and design new, useful or fun ways to do an old task in a new way! $12.
Inventor Badge Workshop
Saturday, March 23
10 am – noon
Complete the Inventor badge for BROWNIES! Do you ever wonder what it takes to come up with a new kind of phone or a new way to power a light bulb? Warm up your inventor’s mind and discover new ways to solve the same problem. Develop a needs list, solve a problem and share your invention with the group.
Animal Habitats Badge Workshop
Saturday, March 23
1 – 3 pm
Complete the Animal Habitats badge for JUNIORS! Learn about endangered habitats, explore different habitats throughout the museum and perform your own animal-home-building experiment. $12.
Special Agent Badge Workshop
Sunday, March 24
1 – 3 pm
Just for CADETTES! A special agent wears many hats—detective, scientist, psychologist and enforcer of the law. Learn about forensic science, practice the art of deception, reveal reality and much more. When Cadettes earn this badge, they will know secrets from the worlds of forensic science and criminal psychology. $12.
Senses Badge Workshop
Saturday, April 20
10 am – noon
Complete the Senses badge for BROWNIES! Who can see better – humans or owls? Investigate the animal world through your senses and use touch, smell, hearing and sight while enjoying games, activities and even a scavenger hunt! $12.
Geocacher Badge Workshop
Saturday, April 20
1 – 3 pm
Complete the Geocacher badge for JUNIORS! Learn how to use GPS units on a geocaching and earthcaching adventure that includes technology training and fun “treasure” hunting activities. Outside portion of workshop will be weather dependent. $12.
